When the wedding bells ring, W so do the alarms of the stress that is about to follow, resulting in couples getting frazzled with all the nitty-gritty details to be looked into. As happy and as joyous a wedding ceremony can seem, putting the act together can be overwhelming. But fret not. Addressing this very concern is the maiden Sharjah Bridal Fair 2016, to be held from May 19 to 22, under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohamed Al Qasimi, wife of the Ruler of Sharjah. Organised and presented by Al Jawaher Reception & Convention Centre (JRCC), this one-of-akind event is a onestop-shop for all the services that a wedding celebration hinges on. Soon-to-be brides can expect the most sought-after suppliers of wedding services and products all under one roof. Boasting of more than 100 exhibitors providing the A to Z of a wedding preparation; think wedding gowns, cosmetics, jewellery, flower arrangements, make- up and hairdressing, confectionery, photography and video et al, there will also be fashion and entertainment shows, motivational seminars and workshops covering a wide range of topics delivered by well-known beauty and lifestyle experts. Apart from showcasing an array of wedding creations by A-list designers such as Oscar De La Renta, Carolina Herrera, Marchesa, Isabel Sanchis and ESPOSA Couture to name a few, the event also aims to provide a pedestal to upand-coming designers to display their creations in the form of the Young Fashion Awards 2016. Open to female Emiratis or UAE residents under 25 years of age, the categories of competition are Emerging Fashion Designer (Women's Ready-to-Wear), Wedding Abayas, and Kaftans or Dresses Collection. For those gravitated towards the technological space, the organisers have announced the Best Prototype Wedding App or Website competition. There are exciting prizes up for grabs in each category. The exhibition which has germinated in the wake of the highly successful The Bride Guide a comprehensive personal organiser designed to steer Emirati weddings aims to bolster the bridal programme initiated by JRCC and cement its position as a pioneer in helping curate weddings. The fair comes at a time when the UAE is witnessing a significant increase in the number of marriages taking place. In addition, due to the strategic and easilyaccessible location of JRCC, which is a short distance from Sharjah's city centre, Dubai and Ajman, a huge footfall of people is expected, who will have the opportunity to savour all the interesting events to be held at the venue. Speaking about the event, JRCC's Director Hanan Al Mahmoud says, "Following on from the successful launch of The Bride Guide which is our first wedding publication dedicated to Emirati brides, we have been looking for additional ways to embrace the wedding market and we believe the fair will be a welcome addition to Sharjah's exhibition calendar. The exhibition will offer all the main and supplementary services needed for an attractive and innovative wedding ceremony, and the exhibition space will be divided into thematic sections based on the wedding service providers for a more convenient experience." She added, "We have organised the fair based on our understanding of the demand and growth of the wedding industry sector in the UAE and the various businesses that support such events. Sharjah is the third largest city in terms of the number of wedding contracts, and currently, the wedding function and planning market is growing at a rate of 20 per cent per year. Without a doubt, this fair will be the ideal destination for couplesto-be, both Emiratis and residents alike, who wish to plan their wedding day smoothly and seamlessly." Touted as the most unique and luxurious exhibition in the northern emirate, the event taps into the business of wedding planning at an unprecedented scale and at one that has seldom been seen before in the UAE. With the exhibition going the whole hog of what a wedding entails, The Sharjah Bridal Fair calls on all future brides and grooms to participate and simplify the process leading up to their special day. So if you happen to be a soon-tobe-married couple, book your calendars from May 19 to 22 and make a dash for this gala that promises to help you realise your dream wedding.
